너와 나의 경계를 허문다.
우리는 무언가를 받아들일 때 개인의 인식 필터를 거치게 된다. 인식은 감각으로 이루어진다. 사람마다 보고 느끼는 게 다르며, 그 감정을 바탕으로 생각과 사고의 흐름이 이어진다. 우리는 감각적으로 모든 걸 수용한다. 단지 사람은 모순적이고 좋고 나쁨을 구별할 뿐이다. 이번 전시를 통해 감정과 이성의 경계를 들여다 본다.
인간은 모르는 것에 두려움을 갖는다. 판단과 결론을 내야 안심이 된다. 앎은 인간의 생존과 긴밀히 관련돼있다. 더군다나 현대에선 이성이 부각되어 개념이 견고해졌다. 고정관념에 맞추는 것이 생존 방식이 됐다. 그러나 지식으로 다룰 수 없는 미지와 모순의 영역이 있다. 나는 작업을 통해 인식 과정을 추적한다. 인식하는 순간순간을 알아차릴 때 우리는 어디로 나아가게 될지 질문한다.
We take things in through our own filters of perception. Perception is made of the senses. Each person sees and feels differently, and from those emotions, a stream of thought and reason flows. We accept everything through our senses. It’s just that humans are contradictory, merely distinguishing between good and bad. Through this exhibition, I look into the boundary between emotion and reason.
Humans fear the unknown. We feel safe only after making judgments and reaching conclusions. Knowledge is deeply tied to survival. In the modern world, reason has become increasingly emphasized, making our concepts more rigid. Conforming to fixed ideas has become a way of surviving.
Yet there remain realms of the unknown and the contradictory that knowledge cannot grasp. Through my work, I trace the process of perception. When we begin to notice it, a question remains: Where do we go from here?
